Tausend Kraniche ... - Thousand cranes ...

Nach einer alten japanischen Legende, sollen tausend gefaltete Origami-Kraniche einen Wunsch ergeben. In der Hoffnung, dass diese fantastische Legende stimmt falte ich Kraniche - auch zum Geburtstag :).

According to an old Japanese fantasy and legend, should thousand (hand)folded origami cranes granted a wish. In the hope that this fantasy legend becomes true - so I fold cranes, also to birthday :).

Die handgefalteten Miniaturkraniche von 1,1 bis 2,3 cm [Miniaturfalten ist nichts für schwache Nerven ;)] habe ich für die Gestaltung einer Geburtstagsverpackung einer Spirale folgend angeordnet.

The hand-folded miniature cranes from 1,1 to 2,3 cm [miniature folding isn´t something for weak nerves ;)] I made for a birthday gift-package with integrated birthday card. The cranes are following arranged like in a spiral.

Das Spiralenornament der Geschenkbox ist mit der Packung auf einer glatten Fläche drehbar und ergibt so ein Bild fliegender Kraniche sowie die optische Täuschung eines Kreisels.

The spiral ornament of gift box can be rotated with the package on a smooth surface and shows so a picture of flying cranes, as well as the optical illusion of a gyrostat.

Die Geschenkebox ist in Chiffon gekleidet und Deckel ist als Layout mit Acrylfarben, Bronze, Papierkranichen sowie Halbperlen gestaltet.

The gift box is lined in chiffon and the cover is designed as a layout with Acrylic colours, bronze, paper cranes and half pearls.

Die Form der Geschenkbox als Hexagon (∅ 15 cm) ist für eine Chiffonblüte als Broschel gedacht (wie im ersten Bild).

The form of the gift box is worked out as a hexagon (∅ 15 cm) and is the package for a chiffon flower as a brooch (as shown in the first picture).

1000 cranes will be granted a wish ...

... nach einer alten japanischen Legende, sollen tausend gefaltete Origami-Kraniche einen Wunsch ergeben. Wie viele Kraniche ich seit meiner Kindheit gefaltet habe, weiß ich nicht genau und doch war immer auch die Hoffnung dabei einen Wunsch erfüllt zu bekommen. In der Hoffnung liegt nun auch die Angst, dass diese Legende ihre Zauberkraft verlieren könnte.

Deshalb ist meine Miniaturinstallation auch dem Thema Angst und Hoffung gewidmet, welche ich als eine kleine Welt der Gegensätze in eine Laborglas (Höhe =7,5 cm incl. Korken) gebracht habe.

... according to an old Japanese legend, thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish. I don't know exactly how much cranes I have folded since my childhood, in the hope a wish will be realized. In my hope for a granted wish was also the fear that this legend isn´t real or could lose their magic power.

This fear and hope is somehow still in my subconscious and a part of my memories. Therefore I made myself a  miniature installation with miniature cranes to discuss the theme of fear and hope. In this laboratory glass (hight with cork = 7,5 cm ) is it like in a small world of opposites under one sky.

Das Glas ist in zwei Hälften eingeteilt. Wobei die Seite der Angst den Minaturkranichen die Flügel mit Feuer gestaltet sind und so dass sie ihre Zauberkraft verloren haben. Dazu sind kleine Details wie Glasscherben und ein kaputtes Schloss arrangiert worden.

Von oben fliegen die Kraniche zwischen dem Schicksal der Angst und der Hoffnung, dass ein Wunsch erfüllt wird oder nicht erfüllt werden kann, so wie bei der kleinen Sadako Sasak war und der Wunsch nicht erfüllt wurde.

The glass is divided into two halves. One side shows the fear - with fire burned wings of the miniature cranes (cranes approx. 1,1 cm), where they lost so their magic. Further small details are to find like a broken lock and bits of broken glass. From the top are flying cranes between the fate of the fear and the hope, like at little Sadako Sasak where the hope didn´t come true.

Die Seite Hoffnung ist mit leuchtenden Steinen geschmückt und wird duch das Herz getragen. Die Miniaturkraniche sind ca. 0,8 - 1,1 cm und waren eine kleine Herausforderung, denn die Faltkanten müssen herausgearbeitet werden, wobei ich teilweise mit zwei Pinzetten geartbeitet habe. Um einen mechanisch wirkenden Miniaturkranichhimmel zu bekommen, sind die Kranich mit Nadeln in den Kork in unterschiedlichen Höhen befestigt worden.

The side of hope is decorated with shining stones and a carried heart. The miniature cranes are about 0.8 - 1.2 cm and were a small challenge, because the folding edge must be worked out, partly with two tweezers. To get this kind of mechanically miniature crane sky, the cranes were fixed in different heights with needles in the cork.

Zur Anschauung ein Größenvergleich mit einer Streichholzschachtel - die Details sind besser in den oberen Bildern erkennbar.

And to see the dimensions - I made a picture with matchbox. The details are of course better to see in the pictures above - and from both sides -Hope and Fear-.

Mit meiner Miniaturwelt aus schwebenden Kranichen zwischen Angst auf der einen Seite des Experimentglases -durch die brennenden Kraniche und dem Verlust der Kraft- und Hoffnung auf der zweiten Seite und so der Wunscherfüllung nehme ich an den Herausforderung von:

Als Live-Video [Eigenregie und -produktion von meinem Mann :)]   "Imagine" von Lojalny Tony (Cover von John Lennon's -Imagine-) wurde vor einigen Jahtren eine Gedenk-Aktion mit 1000 Kranichen durchgeführt an dem wir auch mit Kraniche gefaltet haben, die während des Konzerts von einem Turm aus mit dem Wind fliegen gelassen wurden.

Few years ago as live-video [film-direction and -production by my man :)] "Imagine" von Lojalny Tony at 1000 cranes for peace action (cover of John Lennon's song) recorded. We folded as well as a lot of friends cranes - 1000! We let them flought with the wind ...
